Snipping Tool! As a Virtual Assistant, I’ve noticed that very few people take full advantage of the Power of the Snipping Tool – this is one of the most underused but ridiculously useful programs on Windows and…it’s free!
Ever wanted to just show something on your pc/laptop screen to someone and consequently gave up in frustration?
Whether you’re capturing a screenshot for a presentation, sharing something quickly with a colleague, or saving snippets for your records, this little tool is a lifesaver!
✂️ 20 second rundown on how to use Snipping Tool:
1. Open the Snipping Tool:
Firstly, type “Snipping Tool” in the search bar or press Windows + Shift + S for a shortcut to the snip options. It opens a little box (go on, try it!).
2. Secondly, choose Your Snip:
✂️ Freeform snip: This allows you to draw a custom shape
✂️ Rectangular snip: For neat and precise captures (this is the one I used most)
✂️ Window snip: Capture an open window
✂️ Full-screen snip: Capture the whole screen
3. Lastly, Edit & Share
Next, click ‘New’ and the screen will grey out. Now select what you want to copy by dragging the mouse and creating a box (or use the mouse to draw around the section you want to copy.
Once you’ve captured it, you can highlight, write on or save the snip, to save and copy to documents or share instantly using the email option. Alternatively you can select copy and it will let you paste the image you have just ‘snipped’ on to an email.
Clever, eh?
It’s quick, easy, and can save you so much time! Honestly, give it a try and see how it can streamline your day-to-day tasks. It’s ace.
